I Am A Terrible Mother

Clara came to see me this morning, saying in a sad voice "the tooth fairy forgot to come. There's no money and the tooth is still there". Oh Crap!!!!!!!!!

She lost her fifth tooth yesterday, a really big deal because Corwin has been first to lose every other tooth so far. We got it all ready and of course the tooth fairy had the money ready, but since she worked doing decor on Saturday, including takedown until 4:20 am, and had 2.5 hours of sleep before singing a solo at church, and then went to bed early, it's not surprising that the tooth fairy forgot. Clara said "I guess she forgot", but I reminded her that we were having really wicked rain and freezing rain last night, and that it would be really hard for her to fly in that. Clara brightened up at that and said "She'll just come tonight". Whew! Future therapy avoided :)

Good thinking, batman.
If you were really a terrible mother, you'd have said, "we were having really wicked rain last night, she'll probably have croaked it. And it'll all have been because of you."

Thanks for my morning chuckle. Stupid "Family Day" here. Yes, it was the Ontario election promise of the guy who got elected - because there are no stat holidays in Feb. Brilliant, but see, Hubby works for the Federal government, so he doesn't get it - it's not in their contract. Yes, it's every parent's DREAM to be stuck inside with their kids because the weather is fucking miserable and everything is CLOSED because it's "family day"
(sorry, do I sound bitter? Actually, it's going fine so far, but we have homework to do and I'm just waiting for Corwin's arguing/screaming/frustrated pencil throwing to start!)

Hee!

I'm laughing because Rosey lost one a few days ago and I WOKE UP in the middle of the night and had to rummage through pockets and the jar of 'found' coins we keep near the dryer to find a few shiny quarters and pennies for her...

(Cheap, I know. But she loves pennies.)

Even the tooth fairy's gotta go to bed early sometimes. Quick thinking on the weather thing. :)
