Heading Out

So I'm supposed to be packing to go to Montebello for decor work. We're leaving around noon, and coming back on Wednesday (with no computer access!!!). What am I doing instead? Loading new music on my iPod, and photos!! I had no idea that my Nano was able to have pics, so I now have 17 images loaded. Have I packed anything? Of course not!! But I have time.

I had a massage on Friday. It was badly needed. My left shoulder and neck get really messed up from playing guitar and flute - neither are normal positions. This was exacerbated in March when the little boy from the nursery school jumped on my back to give me a hug. It clicked my neck, but I didn't have time to see anyone then, and it started feeling better so I never bothered. Well, for about a month, my clavicle has been really tight, and I even felt like I had an upper rib out on the left. My whole shoulder feels pulled up. I saw a new massage therapist because mine is lovely, but not getting what needs to be worked on, even after I pointed it out a few times. Well, let me tell you, Mark is fabulous!!! He understood when I said I needed a lot of pressure - I have a very high threshold for pain, and my muscles need seriously deep pressure. You know your shoulder is very messed up when the RMT says "hmmm . . . .it's very tight. I can't even access the scapula or the clavicle because the muscles are so tight. Muscle is supposed to be supple, but it's like massaging bone on the left side". Ouch! Yesterday, I was so sore. Advil is my friend for sure. The good news is that the headache I have had a bit of for a couple of weeks is now gone. I go again a week from Friday. I just hope all the decorating doesn't lock things up before then!

Update: RBOC

Okay, here's the scoop of what's been happening lately . . .
- my parents house sold!!!! The day the other offer fell through, they had two showings, then another the following day. That night they got a call saying that an offer was coming the next morning. It was conditional only on a building inspection, which passed no problem (to quote the inspector "what a well-maintained and cared-for home"). The sold sticker went on last Wed. The bonus? The closing is Nov 15 - far better, considering that their new house will be ready Dec 11. Yay!!!!!!
- Weasley is still in Calgary for his Westjet flight attendant training. He is so perfect for it, and has been passing all tests with no problem. Well, CF's birthday was on Monday, and I think CF was a bit down about Weasley being away. Another of Weasley's friends arranged a little get-together, and CF didn't know who would be there. In all there were 10 of us . . . plus Weasley, who flew in for the night!!! To say that CF was surprised would be an understatement. It was a great birthday after all.
- Last weekend Ben and I messaged a lot. It was great to chat again - it had been awhile. Anyway, I ended up giving him my blog address so he could see a picture of something. Also, I told him there was a post about him. I got my answer. Why do I always fall for the shy guys?
- I finally got my new computer set up, and I have been very busy loading my CDs into my iTunes, and playing with my iPod. I feel so high tech!
- Corwin and Clara have been testing my sanity with the arguing and attitude, but this week they are in day camp. They love it, and so do I!!

That's about it on the news front. I will try to be more diligent about actually posting but hey, it's summer

And While We're At It . . .

LB, here is a photo of a cocktail that I have made. When you requested on the photo blog, I was in a slump - beer or wine, and that was just boring. So . . . a mojito for you!

Better Late Than Never

Remember way back in March when I met Luckybuzz in the quaint seaside town and I was supposed to post my picture? Well, I had some computer problems and got frustrated with the non-loading of the shot. Guess what? I have my new computer now, and I am all tech-savvy. Here is my bloggable photo of the ultra-cool LB and me!!!!

Well, If That Doesn't Just Suck, I Don't Know What Does!

You know how I said my parents' house had sold? Scratch that. The buyers can't get the money from England. They (buyer A), have an offer on their house from Buyer B. Buyer B has an offer from Buyer C. And Buyer C is being dicked around by Buyer D, who is apparently a complete asshole and has screwed everyone over. Gotta love the antiquated real estate system in England. Anyway, this means that we aren't headed to Oakville for the last hurrah visit, and my parents are dealing with viewings again. Please send up whatever prayers, wishes, and good thoughts you have that it really does sell quickly - by next week would be good. Because living with my stressed-out father can't be a picnic for my mom!

The Bad Smurfette

So, last night I coloured my hair. Nothing crazy, just needed something to cover the grey again between visits to the salon. Since I'm a bit of a chicken, I use Natural Instincts, which is semi-permanent and washes out in about 26 shampoos. I look for something close to the natural colour (well, natural before the grey). This time, I used "clove". Followed the directions, and it all turned out well. But whenever my hair is dark (without some red or gold in it), I feel like the bad smurfette.

Not that I'd want to be the blonde smurfette, but she did have much better hair. And she was much nicer. Now you have another glimpse into the insanity of Canada - I relate to little blue imaginary creatures - even without alcohol!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Summer holidays with thunderstorms and lots of rain and two six year olds who alternate between playing well and killing each other leads to mommy contemplating tequila shots by 10 am. Oh, looked at the time - thinking tequila by 9!!!

Taittinger, Anyone? They're Out of Cristal!

You Are a Champagne Woman
A true mystery, no one can quite figure you out...That is, until you start drinking. Then you tend to let loose. You're fun to drink with, but it definitely takes you a few drinks to loosen up.You prefer to date a man who likes the finer things in life... like a five star dinner with that champagne.

And Don't You Forget It!!!!

You Are The Empress
You represent the ideal female figure: beauty and nurturing. You bring security and harmony to many.At times, you are also a very sensual person. You are characterized by love, pleasure, and desire.
Your fortune:
You need to take some time to think about the role of commitment in your life. It's possible you need to commit more to others, or deal with how others have treated you.It is very important for you to support your friends and family right now, difficult as it may be.You may need to look at your relationship with your mother, or your relationships as a mother.

The First Kiss Update

Looking back at the comments from my Blast From the Past post, I find it hilarious that you all want details about my First Kiss. Really, there are no details. We kissed a few times in grade 6. We actually used to play "drop the mitten" on class trips - we'd sit at the back of the bus, pretend we were trying to pick something up, bend down and kiss, really quickly. There was no tongue (for all you detail-obsessed types - crse!!) I think he still went to Private School in grade 7, but nothing was going on. And in grade 8, there were 10 of us - nine girls and PJ. Poor PJ, I always wondered if we traumatized him. None of us wanted to kiss him, though (actually, met him for a drink in 1990, and he seemed well-adjusted - maybe we gave him insight into the minds of women, lol!). Sorry to disappoint but . . . that's it. First Kiss is married with three kids, doing well, happy. Nothing else to report. On this story, at least ;)

The Catch Up Edition

Okay, let's play catch up, because Canada is a very bad blogger. We'll do it in bullet format, to keep me from rambling too much.
  • I survived my recital. The Faure Pie Jesu went very well. I wasn't as pleased with the Italian Il Mio Bel Foco, but apparently it didn't suck as badly as I thought. AVT said that the recitative wasn't really on, but the aria was excellent. Whatever - I hope she learned her lesson in trying to get me to sing passionately and dramatically!!! The most interesting part was the reaction of my father (both my parents came, as well as Senate Woman and her hubby, and Daisy. Also, Gordon and Gaston, but they left at intermission, so didn't hear the Italian - phew!). Anyway, my Dad's comments were "I didn't know you could sing like that! If I was outside of the room and heard without seeing you, I wouldn't have believed it was you." Um, thanks Dad? I think that's a compliment, but I'm not sure!!
  • My parents' house sold. They heard that an offer was forthcoming on the day of my recital, they found out the details after I sang, they told the agent that they would accept during drinks out after the recital, and they signed the faxed paperwork at the local real estate office the next day. It is conditional for financing until July 12 - and then the people want it on July 31st!!! Talk about a scramble. The financing is only such a long window because the people are moving from England, and their house closed there today (July 5), and they need a bit of time to get the money organized and out of the country. Fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly. Otherwise my mother will end up in a padded room!
  • School is done. The kids are here. My sanity? Is fleeting!!! Overall, things are good, but there have been moments!!!!
  • Tonight, I'm going to see Daughtry and Nickelback with CF and SweetEscape. It's at an outdoor stadium. There is a forecast of rain and possible thunderstorms. How soaked do you think we'll be?
  • Next week, I'm off to 2 outdoor concerts at Bluesfest. Thursday is Blue Rodeo, and Friday is INXS. After which I will be going to a midnight show of Harry Potter. Because I am that obsessed!!!
  • Still highly addicted to Facebook. Have really reconnected with the Fraggle. We have been messaging daily, and have talked on the phone a few times. It's nice, I've missed him.
  • Gerhard is on Facebook, too. We've commenced a slapfest. People have commented. I think it's funny.

That's about it. If anything exciting happens, I will be sure to keep everyone updated. And Happy Belated Independance Day to my friends and neighbours to the south.
